You don’t have to
have it figured out to start.

No program required. No one telling you who you should be. Just you, at your own pace.

AUREL is a free education platform built from lived experience — real stories, real questions, and structured reflection that helps you see yourself more clearly and figure out what comes next.

What this is

This isn’t therapy. It isn’t a program. It’s education.

AUREL won’t tell you what to do or who to become. It won’t diagnose you or assign you a track based on someone else’s idea of what you need. What it will do is put real stories in front of you — people who’ve been through it — and ask you honest questions about your own life.

Some of it will land. Some of it won’t. That’s okay. You choose what fits where you are right now.

Free forever Individual access to AUREL is always free. No trial period. No credit card. No catch.
Your answers are yours You control what gets shared. Your reflections are private unless you choose otherwise.
Your pace No deadlines. No one checking whether you finished. Move through it when you're ready.
No AI Every piece of content is built by humans with lived experience. No algorithm is reading your answers.

How it works

Simple. Here’s what it actually looks like.

Create your free account

Takes two minutes. Your username can be anything — you don’t need to use your real name. If you’re part of a program or organization, you’ll have the option to connect your account. If not, that’s completely fine — most people start on their own.

Choose a learning plan

Browse the available paths and pick what speaks to where you are right now. CBT, 12-step principles, brain science, emotional regulation, Dharma recovery — there’s no wrong starting point.

Watch. Reflect. Continue.

Each lesson is a short clip — two to five minutes — from someone who’s been there. Then a few questions. Some multiple choice, some in your own words. Then another clip. That’s it. No lectures. No homework. Just honest content and honest questions.

Move at your own pace

Come back when you’re ready. Pick up where you left off. Or start a different learning plan entirely. AUREL isn’t going anywhere.

What’s inside

Some of what’s waiting for you.

Learning plans are structured around frameworks that have helped people in recovery — evidence-based, spiritually-grounded, and everything in between. You don’t need to know what any of these mean to start. Just find what resonates.

Brain science

Understand what happened in your brain — and what’s possible from here.

12-step principles

The spiritual framework behind recovery, explored through story and reflection.

Emotional regulation

Skills for understanding and working with what you feel — not suppressing it.

Dharma recovery

Buddhist-informed principles applied to recovery and daily living.

Cognitive patterns

Learn to recognize the thinking that’s been running the show — and how to change it.

Psychological growth

Identity, purpose, and who you’re becoming — not just who you’ve been.

About your account

A quick word about registration.

When you create your account you’ll be asked for your name, a username, email, and phone number. Your username is what appears inside the platform — it can be anything you want.

You’ll also see a data sharing option. This lets you choose whether instructors or administrators can view your onboarding answers. Your learning progress is always visible to staff if you’re part of a program — but if you’re coming in on your own, you’re in control of what gets shared.

Not part of a program? Select “I am not with a program” when you register. Everything works exactly the same — you just move through it independently.

You’ve already done the hardest part.

Deciding something has to change is the work. AUREL is just where you go from here.
